It it possible to transfer / port my regular number to Vumber?
Unfortunately we are not currently porting numbers to the Vumber service, although
we are looking to introduce this feature in the coming days/weeks. We will update
users and this page when porting becomes available.
Is there a per minute fee associated with calls to and from my Vumber?
There are no per minute charges, for either outbound or inbound calls. We do charge
$1.99 for additional Vumbers and $1.99 each time you change your Vumber (although
the first 3 changes are free!)
Other than that you pay a flat fee of $4.99 a month.
Note that normal carrier charges still apply when using Vumber.
Can Vumber be used with a fax machine?
We do not currently support faxing through Vumbers.
Is there a set-up fee?
There is NO SETUP FEE and what’s more, is we give you 30-days to try the service
before we charge you anything!
What payment methods are available for Vumber?
You can pay for Vumber with any major credit card (Amex. Visa, Mastercard)
What happens if I don’t answer a call to my Vumber?
Don’t worry – the call never goes through to your personal voicemail. Each Vumber
comes with it’s own Voicemail box. You can retrieve your voicemails through your
phone or we can even email voicemails to your email address.
Can I record my Vumber calls.
Vumber does not currently support call recording.
What is Vumber?
Vumber gives you the ability to add a new phone number to any phone that you own.
You can make and receive calls from your new number without affecting your existing
numbers in any way. Vumber works on ANY phone with no downloads, data plans, computers
or secret codes. Just give your friends and contacts your new number and they can
call you on your phone without knowing your real phone number on that device. You
can call them back and they will see your new Vumber displayed in their CallerID
display. Vumber protects your privacy. We never reveal your private number to anyone.
When making calls, you remain completely anonymous until YOU decide to reveal your
private information.
How does Vumber work?
You select a new phone number in the area code of your choice. You associate that
number with your phone. (We don’t care which!). To make a call, simply dial your
Vumber. At the prompt, dial the number of the person that you wish to call. That’s
it! To receive a call, answer the phone normally. If you hear a prompt, press 1
to answer the call. That’s it!
Are Vumbers “normal” phone numbers?
Vumbers are regular phone numbers just like any other phone number.
I don’t see my area-code. What should I do?
Vumber currently supports the majority of US area-codes. If yours does not appear,
send an email to info@vumber.com and we’ll advise you when and if it will be available.
New area-codes are added all the time!
Is Vumber available in other countries?
Vumber is currently only available to users in the USA. We will be implementing
Vumber on a worldwide basis beginning in Q1 2008. Check back then to see if you
can get a Vumber in the country of your choice. (Or send us an email and we’ll contact
you when this is available).
Why would I use Vumber?
Vumber is perfect for talking to people you know (or don’t know) online, whether
friends in your network, IM buddies, an auction or classified buyer or seller –
anyone! You use your own phone so you can call from anywhere.
How is Vumber different from other virtual phone number providers?
Privacy and Anonymity: Vumber provides you with your own unique phone number. You
treat a Vumber number like you would any other number: you can screen calls with
Caller ID, add the number to your mobile phone contacts, and use all of the features
of your mobile phone, like assigning personal ring tones, returning calls from the
received calls list, and more. Furthermore, your number is never published anywhere
and it is completely private, secure and anonymous. This helps prevent unsolicited
calls to your phone. Call Anyone: Vumber lets you contact anyone, anywhere, right
now. To contact someone, you simply dial them from your Vumber!
How much does Vumber cost?
Vumber costs $4.99/month for unlimited calling! Additional Vumbers cost $1.99/month
on the same account.
Do I have to pay you and my cell company for calls?
All calls that you make from your cell phone are charged as part of your regular
call plan. There is no Vumber surcharge. You pay only $4.99 for the service. Additional
Vumbers cost $1.99/month on the same account.
Can anyone call me using my Vumber?
Anyone can call you on your Vumber provided that they know your Vumber. You may
also choose to customize the call treatment that each caller receives.
Can I identify who is calling me before I answer the phone?
Vumber provides the Caller-ID information of the person calling you. You can use
this information to identify the caller, play a distinctive ringtone or give them
special treatment (Go directly to Vumber voicemail or Do not Answer!).
Do I need to purchase or install any special equipment or software to use Vumber?
Absolutely not. Vumber requires no special equipment, PCs or special emails. You
use Vumber just like any other number.
How do I send an SMS from my Vumber?
Text messaging will be implemented very shortly. It is currently unavailable.
What is “normal” usage? What do you mean?
Vumber is designed for individual use in social and business environments. Normal
usage is considered to be less than 20 hours per month. Customers who consistently
exceed this threshold will be offered a different plan to accommodate their calling
needs
What happens if I do not answer the phone? Can the caller leave me a message?
When you receive a call to your Vumber, your phone will ring and you answer normally.
If you choose not to answer, the call will be routed to your special Vumber voicemail.
If you answer, you will hear, “Press 1 to take this call.” ANY other action will
send the caller to your new Vumber voicemail. Every Vumber has a separate voicemail
box associated with its number. You can customize that voicemail any way you wish.
When you receive a message, you can listen to it on your phone or view it and listen
to it in your email.
Can I use Vumber with my business or company phone? Do I need Caller-ID enabled
to use Vumber?
You can use Vumber with ANY phone. If the outbound Caller ID does not match the
number of your phone, you may dial an 800 number and dial using your PIN number
and Vumber.
My Vumber is not working on my cell/home/work phone?
Try unblocking your Caller-ID! Business phones that do not transmit a unique caller-id
(DID) but instead send another number will require you to dial the 800 number with
your Vumber and password.
How do I change my Private (Personal) number?
Log into your Vumber account. You can locate your private phone number on your Account
Settings page. You can enter a new personal phone number.
How do I change my Vumber?
Log into your Vumber account. You can locate your Vumber on your Account Settings
page. You can choose a new area-code and Vumber.
How many Vumbers can I have?
As many as you need!
How do I manage my call settings?
Log into your Vumber account. Go to scheduling on your Account Settings page.
How do I change my Vumber voicemail?
Dial your Vumber. Press **1 and follow the prompts.
What do I do if I forget my Vumber?
Log into your Vumber account. Go to your Account Settings page.
I forgot my password or pin. Help!
Go to http://vumber.com/login.aspx and request a password reminder. Security does
not permit ANYONE (including us) to view your passwords.
Does anyone ever see my personal phone number?
Absolutely not. When you call someone using your Vumber,, only the Vumber is displayed
in the other person’s Caller ID. Your personal phone number will never be revealed.
Furthermore, at Vumber, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our users,
and have taken great steps to ensure that your information is protected and to eliminate
any chance of fraud. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and
managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect and we
will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.

How does my call show up on a phone bill when I make or receive calls to/from
my Vumber phone number?
Your real phone number and the real phone numbers of the people you connect to using
Vumber are never revealed on a phone bill. If you use your Vumber to call other
people, your itemized phone bill would show the Vumber number that you dialed. The
caller-id of the person who called you may appear on your bill.
